I saw this little list posted on a friend’s page on Facebook and feel like it’s exactly the way I try to and want to live so I’m adding it in here:
Live beneath your means.
Return everything you borrow.
Admit it when you make (a) mistake.
Give clothes not worn to charity.
Do something nice and try not to get caught.
Listen more; talk less.
Every day take a 30 minute walk.
Strive for Excellence, not perfection.
Be on time. Don’t make excuses.
Don’t argue. Get organized.
Be kind to unkind people.
Let someone cut ahead of you in line.
Take time to be alone.
Cultivate good manners.
Be humble.
Realize and accept that life isn’t fair.
Know when to keep your mouth shut.
Go an entire day without criticizing anyone.
Learn from the past. Plan for the future.
Live in the present.
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
It’s all small stuff.
I know and recognize that nobody is perfect. I also know that these items are all difficult to stick to at the same time. Some of the things I think I’m good at, I still fail at occasionally. “Stop blaming people.” Yeah but what if it IS their fault? “Give clothes not worn to charity.” Yeah but what about my “Shearrow” shirts from when I played ball? “Every day take a 30 minute walk.” But..but.. but.. No more excuses! Just do it.
We’re all human and we all struggle. We all make mistakes but so long as we learn from them life SHOULD get better. Take this list, read it a couple of times, make some adjustments but don’t kick yourself when your down. Pick yourself up and try again!
